Israel Vibration at SOB's in NYC

This is a Rasjohnmon recording from 1991. SOB's is a great little club restaurant in lower Manhattan not far from the Village and Soho. I was there with good friend Ras Hank sitting at a table right in front of the stage. We got there early to grab the good table and have something to eat before the show. The food there is good and the Red Stripes cold.

Our good buddy, Roger RoJah Steffens was in the house to open the show with his Bob Marley Tribute Show of gems pulled from his extensive archive treasure trove of Bob Marley material.  Rojah has been a good friend for years since I met him with Timothy White at Westwood One.  We have shared a lot of good times and a few of the shows at the VitalVibes.com archive originally were sent to me from him.  He is the ultimate authority on Bob Marley as far as I am concerned - he is a truly upful and bright Spirit - blessings to you always Rojah!

By the time the show started the place had filled up with a couple of hundred people.  I sat there with my wife Maureen, Hank and his wife hiding the stereo microphone going to my Sony D5 hidden in my briefcase.  Rojah and Israel Vibration gave us all a most enjoyable night. To tune-in to the show, look for Israel Vibration in the Reggae Music section at the beginning of the listing at www.vitalvibes.com - enjoy!

The Spirit of Cultural Fusion

You can come up with lots of definitions for cultural fusion. The coming together of cultures. The blending. You can be opposed to it thinking the distinct qualities of various cultures are being lost to a homogenized less than the parts whole. Or, you can see those same distinct qualities being mixed in a gumbo to create something wonderful.

Cultural Fusion dot org is not about either of these although it can't help but be to some extent. It's about one world family of billions of distinct individuals and other living creatures being on the cutting edge of creation. Each life force participating in inventing the future. A Cultural Fusion that is not about the loss of distinctness - a Cultural Fusion that is the result of goals, aspirations and beliefs of each of those billions having a tangible effect on the reality of the whole.

Shakespeare said "All the world is a stage and all the men and women merely players" - that is a profound concept. It is also only part of the equation. We are not just players subject to unknown upcoming scenes that we have to play like some grand improv "reacting" to what we discover in the script as we go along. NO. We are also the "writers" of our own parts and the "directors" of how each scene plays out. We draw other players developing similar plot lines into our scene so we can be the needed supporting players for each of our scripts.

Here's the rub. Everything that happens in your own personal adventure at the cutting edge of creation is something you created. You wrote the script before it happened. If everything is going great, it is easier to accept that concept. But since the road to "success" is not one with a destination - it is an evolution - you may find yourself playing scenes you are sure you never would have written for yourself. You did. You are.

Our "Cultural Fusion" is about how all the diversity and contrast within humanity is all about a grand and never ending evolution of manifestation. What is the purpose of your life? To become a skilled creator and use your innate power as the writer and director of your part in the play to move creation to a more joyful place.

CulturalFusion.org points to Reggae12.com right now but it may well evolve beyond that because it is more than Music or Reggae.

Marley and More

If you have not seen the new Bob Marley documentary film playing in a limited theater run and all over paid cable, SEE IT!  It is a wonderful film full of insight, wisdom and great music.  There have been very few people who have had as huge an impact on the world (with only 36 years to get it all done) as Bob did.  The world gives thanks for what he gave us all.

That said, we would suggest a trip over to Reggae12.com, RadioReggae.com, or CulturalFusion.org to tune-in to the sounds of a beach somewhere in Jamaica (put the headphones on, sit back and chill) then add some music to your beach visit with one of the players on the page - there's a nice all Marley mix you will enjoy.  You can adjust the volume levels to get the right balance of surf to music... Irie Mon!  Enjoy.

Phil Keeps Rockin' Out Great Shows

Phil Lesh is amazing!  He clearly proves that you never have to be too old to ROCK n' Roll.  He's been kickin around the planet for over 70 years and does not seem to have any interest in stopping.  Furthur, the most recent incarnation of the Grateful Dead, with buddy Bob Weir is playing at a level sure to have Jerry Garcia up in heaven smiling broadly.  This show with some of Phil's other buddies is going to put a big smile on your face if you are at all a fan.  Enjoy this one - another gift from Phil to all of us.

You'll find it in the directory at www.VitalVibes.com

Bob Marley at Tower Theatre - Apr. 23, 1976

We have a new favorite unreleased Bob Marley and The Wailers show. This show took place the week before the Beacon Theater show in NYC that I was lucky enough to be in the audience for. First, it includes the I-Three's set that opened the show which helps set the mood for the performance. Besides being great audio quality, Bob adds some nice verbal flourishes to the songs which I think you will enjoy. Nice One! Jah Rastafari!! A month later, one of Bob's most acclaimed shows would take place at the Roxy in L.A. - attended by people like Bob Dylan and George Harrison...
